How can I request special assistance
Airlines are responsible for providing special assistance at the airport or onboard the aircraft. Passengers are required to book any assistance with the airlines rather than the airport. Once at the airport, check-in agents will liaise with the assistance team.
Please visit the airlines' websites for more information on getting special assistance at the airport. If you would like to receive special assistance at the airport, you need to pre-book it through your airline at least 72 hours before your flight.
Please note that since the flights in your booking are separate, you must add this service to each flight separately.
Wheelchair Assistance SSR Codes
The following SSR codes relate specifically to the assistance offered to passengers with reduced mobility. The majority of airlines use these codes, but some foreign carriers may utilise a different format.

WCHR | Wheelchair assistance is required; passengers can walk up or down stairs a short distance. |
WCHS | Wheelchair assistance is required; passengers can walk a short distance but not up or down stairs. |
WCHC | Wheelchair required; passenger cannot walk any distance and will require the aisle chair to board. |
SSR Codes for Other Disabilities
The following SSR codes address other disability-related assistance needs and may be used in conjunction with the wheelchair assistance codes.
This list is not exhaustive.
Code | Description |
BLND | The passenger is blind or has reduced vision. |
DEAF | The passenger is deaf or hard of hearing. |
DPNA | Disabled Passengers with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities Needing Assistance |
ESAN | The passenger is travelling with an emotional support animal. |

Advance notice allows airlines and airport contractors to manage better and assign the staff who provide wheelchairs and other assistance at the airport.
